Oh, The Terror of Sin!

In the midst of our daily affairs, while we are in the midst of Christian service, or while we lie prostrate in prayer, evil is ever present with us.  The Wicked of Hell sends out his imps and they lurk in the shadows tossing firery darts that invade our thoughts, our actions, our flesh.  How sad it is to be deep in prayer and the mind wonder off.  But you said, "deep in prayer!  How could this happen?" To which I answer with a question: how weak do you think we are?

The Apostle Paul was keen to understand the fact of the infirmities of our flesh. He wrote:
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Romans 7:15-19.

No doubt tears welled up in his eyes as he thought of the times he had wrestled with sin.  But Paul was also quick to give us remedy:
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, Colossians 3:1-5a.

Oh Beloved what terrors stalk you? Look to the weapon of seeking and setting your sights on the eternal Lord Jesus Christ! Forgiveness and deliverance are always available at His throne. He knows the ruthlessness of your adversary. Call on the Lord and plead for mercy when sin terrorizes you. He is faithful to clean and bind your wounds.
