JUST A LITTLE DEVOTION, PLEASE.

If Christ be for us, who can be against us?

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I read this text and I am comforted beyond degree by its words. These are the words of Christ! These are the superlatives of grace spoken by Him who has overcome death, the grave and Hell! He firmly holds the keys to the same in His nail scarred hands. How wondrous is it to know that the King of kings and Lord of lords speaks such things in our ears. And what is it that brings these words to such a glorious zenith? These are the words of salvation for the Elect children of God! Here Christ shows us the way to the Father. Without these words of knowledge the Elect would perish with all of humanity who stumble toward Hell. But by He that has foreknown us, Christ who is the way, the truth and the life, we, who have been predestinated to eternal life, have been shown the way to God the Father and granted the faith to believe it.

But there is more! It is here that we understand our own life. If Christ be the way, the truth and the life, and we are in Christ through salvation in Him, then daily we who know Christ have His way, His truth, His life working in us. We are not alone. No wonder Paul says in Galations 2:20: " I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Oh joy of joys! We live by Christ! We walk by Christ! So we read these words and we take great comfort from Him who gave Himself for us that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

Now what should we say to these words? If Christ be for us, who can be against us? And He is! He is ever watching and caring for us, leading us and guiding us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. Knowing this now, let us give Him praise, honor and glory!
